Association of Vietnamese People in Central and Southern Japan

The Vietnam Association in Chugoku and Shikoku Region, Japan was officially established on August 18, 2019, in Higashi Hiroshima City, Hiroshima Prefecture, as a legally recognized organization authorized and sponsored by the Embassy of Vietnam in Japan. The Association’s operational scope covers all 9 prefectures of the Chugoku and Shikoku regions (including Hiroshima, Okayama, Tottori, Shimane, Yamaguchi, Kagawa, Kochi, Ehime, and Tokushima)-home to a large and vibrant Vietnamese community of students, technical interns, and working professionals. Alongside its main headquarters, the Association has expanded its network with satellite branches in Hiroshima City and Akitakata City (Hiroshima Prefecture) to provide timely, direct support to local residents.

In terms of organization and leadership, the Association is chaired by Prof. Dr. Tran Dang Xuan (Hiroshima University). It brings together active participation from Vietnamese experts, intellectuals, representatives of youth, student, and trainee groups across the region, while working in close partnership with the Vietnam – Japan Senior Experts Association (VJS) and bilateral friendship organizations.

The core mission of the Association is to foster a united, resilient, and thriving Vietnamese community in Japan. It regularly carries out comprehensive community support programs, including legal advice, administrative assistance, protection of legitimate rights, sports tournaments, cultural exchange events, and charitable initiatives directed toward the homeland.

Beyond community welfare, the Association serves as a vital bridge promoting economic, educational, and technological transfer cooperation between the Chugoku-Shikoku region and Vietnam. The Association leads and facilitates joint applied research projects (in high tech agriculture, environmental treatment, and clean energy), assists investment promotion for Japanese enterprises expanding into Vietnam, and supports scholarship and high-quality human resource training programs in key sectors such as semiconductors and biotechnology.

Throughout its journey, the Association has maintained close coordination with the Embassy of Vietnam and local Japanese municipal governments, and has had the honor of receiving high-level Party and State delegations from Vietnam during official visits. Through these activities, the Association continues to solidify its role as a trusted bridge, making tangible contributions to the Vietnam – Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
